Is Ben Bradshaw good because he is gay?

I have always been against positive discrimination for whatever purpose and still think that whoever is best qualified for a job for any reason that may exist at the moment of time should get a post.

The fact that Ben Bradshaw is gay should not even be important because I think everyone should be entitled to their choices as long as they do not discriminate against others that are different.

In this BBC article quite a lot of background on gay issues gets discussed. And the Tory reaction to it.

In my view issues go much deeper than the shallow, gay or not gay discussion because in a heterosexual relationship one appreciates the opposite sex whilst in a gay relationship one doesn’t. Unfortunately Labour’s ability to community doesn’t stretch over the “Yes or No” mentality.

There are on both sides of the gay camp persons who hate the opposite sex and that is as dangerous as those straight people that hate gays. One should in fact never make sexuality either a qualifying or disqualifying criteria and if that principle is employed across the board, then nothing can go wrong.

If one feels a distinctive dislike because one is the wrong sex one tends to reject the other person who define themselves over particular sexual issues. This then gets wrongly analysed as homophobic. I think in all personal issues, may that be colour, creed or sexuality, it always takes two to tangle and one should never put any particular group on a pedestal and declare them as good people just because they belong any one particular group and then the fear to say anything critical about that group becomes a restraint that in itself restricts our freedoms.

If I think that someones being gay impedes on my freedom because they hate me because I am a woman and that they are gay women haters that gives me scope to object to certain things on the issue of them being gay if they define themselves over hating my particular sex of being a woman.

Women fought very hard to become emancipated and when they had to fight heterosexual men who liked women, for recognition I wonder how they fare now against gay men who have no particular liking of women by nature. I think that is a very important point from a woman’s point of view. One has to be careful not to tip the balance to risk the freedoms women have achieved for themselves.

Now I understand (I think). You don’t just not like a particular named gay person, but all particular gay persons, named or not.

I don’t think you understand, I have a lot of gay friends, whom I respect and like, what I dislike are persons who hate persons of the other sex. I am heterosexual and don’t dislike anybody because of their sex, as I believe that would amount to sexual discrimination, so if a gay person hates another person because they are of another sex and not of the same sex they prefer then they are discriminating and that is what I dislike. Hope this makes it more clear. thanks

Was that not just a summary of that paragraph above?
