The forward slant

it might be beneficial for my knee that this exercise bike I bought has a forward slanting cycle mechanism. Normally, the cycling pedals are straight underneath the seat, leaving legs and knees to put the weight and muscle action towards the feet pressing down.

With this cycle the legs point forward and not downward, but it’s between a conventional and a recumbent cycle.

This is quite beneficial for my dodgy knee.

I developed knee problems in my left knee, with a torn ligament – at one point – and constant pain, when I do a lot of walking in foot hugging glove like trainers. I then also get foot ligament inflammation, which might be due to my gout.

I now changed my footwear to broad fitting larger trainers and use this exercise cycle, which I assembled slightly wrongly, so that the arm rest points into the wrong direction but helps me to rest forward onto it.

The type of footwear you use, has an incredibly important effect on your health. If you suffer foot, leg, knee problems, try other shoes and perhaps an exercise bike.

A lot of discoveries were made by accident and I accidentally wrongly assembled this cycle’s armrest and didn’t notice that the position of the pedals is slanted forward quite a bit but it works well for me.

I notice that my calf muscles get well exercised within only a short period of time. I feel it when I walk off after only a 15 mins exercise period.

Since I use this cycle, I have lost all pains in my left knee.
