WTW

Short for What Three words. A very interesting app, which divides the whole planet into 3 meter squares. so you can find places in the most remote areas, even on mountains, forest or deserts. Quite not sure what would happen if for example an earth quake would open gaps and enlarge the Earth’s circumference. Would extra squares be created automatically?

Very remote

There is already research available to show that the earths’ crust is warping due to glaziers melting.

web v app

The increasing use of App seriously manages to reduce reach, in fact it curbs it.

For example the current messaging of Tower Hamlets Police on Twitter has a wide reach and the great effect of this is that it connects to a huge amount of readers.

Just seen that some boroughs now have an OWL App, which does not allow publication beyond subscribers, which seriously diminishes reach of people. There is also the Nextdoor app, introduced through the government, which is extremely busy and doesn’t stop buzzing. The Safeland App however does some seriously good work by connecting alarm users to each other and to services, which other communication only apps don’t do.

The sheer amount of apps available now means that our phones, tablets and pcs are filled with icons of various apps to choose from.

most of us have several pages full of apps already

Companies pay us rewards for using their apps instead of using the web.

The trend to turn away from www to app is concerning as it reduces the ability to communicate openly, which is the principle of democracy.

The more apps are in use, the less can the content of app communications be monitored and people who are members of those apps are in serious danger of being brainwashed one way or another.

I am unable to use all apps on the market, so communication flow is already interrupted because some people have favourite apps and don’t use others. People are less likely to switch to see what happens on another app.

Any person can only use so many apps and is unlikely to ever be informed what happens on another.

It is much easier to manipulate smaller amounts of people on closed apps into thinking in a particular way and that – similar to sectarianism – leaves users open to manipulation.

I think the trend to use apps instead of www is not a good one. If things happen on the open web, sure we would also concentrate on some website, but still be able to look into others through searches and prominence and sheer availability.

I am unable to see what happens in an app unless I take part and nobody has the time to do all apps.

Especially in the case of the police, the current public appeal some police forces’ posts have on Twitter, Facebook, web based services is quite far reaching and has a very good effect on the general public. For example appeals to solve certain crimes, the public showing of how asb and crime is handled has many beneficial effects and attracts friends. But, when all this is taken off the web and put on closed apps, that beneficial effect gets removed and taken out of the public domain.

See how many apps you have on your phone and see how many new ones come out each day.

centralising services – Facebook

The positive first, Facebook has developed a way to determine what is deep fake and where the image comes from, reports Microsoft News. However on the other hand, the social media platform Facebook now acts as intermediary for all types of contract service if something is lost and wants to control how service provision works.

Facebook allows anybody to advertise cards, keys wallets.

What is even more concerning that, if you subscribe to a service, e.g. bank card, TfL travel card, driving license etc. you have a legal agreement with those service providers in case of loss.

Banking has become very much more secure in terms of supplying identity and consent. This assumes that you are in direct contract with your bank. However if now lost bank cards are advertised on Facebook, then the direct contract between the bank and the customer has been broken by the intervention of a third unauthorised entity, namely Facebook, who have no right to even deal in bank cards.

Facebook users have no qualm to advertise children’s found travel cards with name and pic on Facebook, breaching privacy of those individuals. I even found an American Express card, which prompted me to get in touch with American Express about this.

At the same time Facebook increases its godliness by removing posts from genuine services because they do not like them and call them spam.

With respect of anonymous crime reporting for example. Facebook removes all ads, which are not from Crimestoppers, as if there is a law that says that Crimestoppers are the only organisation who can provide that service. Even as Neighbourhood Watch groups can make their own arrangements with police how crime reporting is done, Facebook thinks they can control how policing works now by removing service offers from individuals without their consent.

So we got these two concerning issues.

  1. Facebook acts as unwanted intermediary lost and found service for lost items
  2. Facebook acts as unwanted service control on service provision with police for example.

There is absolutely no respect of privacy and data protection with Facebook. There is no respect of contract law between service providers and the user on Facebook.

TfL have told me that they cannot stop Facebook users to pick up lost cards and advertise them on Facebook. Is this supposed to increase the amount of Facebook users so that you go onto the platform just to find a lost item, instead of asking the actual service provider first?

I can understand and support it that platforms like Facebook remove hate speech and the like but getting involved in the dispersal of personal items like keys, wallets, bank cards, Freedom passes, driving licenses and getting involved in police methods is definitely overstepping the mark.

It could be bullying, that somebody stole a card from somebody, offers it on Facebook?

Where are the security checks that are supposed to be in place to ascertain that the rightful owner gets to use a card, if they can just be offered on Facebook when found?

the advertised cards could be deep fakes, stolen, found.

Especially when there are bunches of keys on Facebook, previously you had to go to a police station or other service provider and describe your bunch of keys, now they show the bunch and you do no longer need to describe it as there is everything on display for everybody to see.

How can the rightful owner of a lost bunch of keys be found if the advertiser, the finder on Facebook knows which door those keys open? Would the advertiser then follow the ‘owner’ to the door to see that it actually opens?

It’s a no brainer, that something isn’t right about those lost and found adverts on Facebook.

Emotional turmoil

I think the latest Eastenders could be more favourable towards the police’s efforts to root out crime. The investigating officer is shown in a bad light, using threats of intimitation towards a junior officer who is romantically inolved with the son of the most serious criminal, Phil Mitchell, head of the Albert Square family crime syndicate.

It makes it clear that it is impossible to have a deep relationship with a criminal whilst at the same time being a serving police officer.

Yet, the constant reminders in the media that we all have to stick to our family would not make it easier for those who wish to distance themselves from crime family backgrounds because if you are supposed to be part of your family but your family is deeply inolved with crime, how are you supposed to be a law-abiding citizen?

Please British media, put your thinking cap on. Change the constant dribble of family allegiance towards a more sustainable campaign that allows individuals to make a choice and choose lawful coexistance rather than allegiance to a criminal empire.

Business must make money but around Christmas time especially the idea the media help at the moment is making people buy more gifts for the family to help the economy at the cost of law and order in cases that stipulate supporting crime families rather than useful individuals who have chosen to buy less gifts for criminal family members.

In that context it is almost impossible for a young person who wants to move out of the family home to do so nowadays, as the laws have changed. There is no more support available. Bad lack for those who are forced to live in families with questionable taste for crime.

Phishing again

I received texts yesterday asking me to verify that I made a payment via my bank account. What I found very amazing is, that somebody managed to purchase URLs with the beginning of HSBC.

I went onto my Internet service provider and searched for URLs beginning with HSBC and none apparently were available. I just wonder where those scammers are able to buy such URL names. Perhaps in some remote country from some strange provider?

It is really up to those selling URL names to ensure that no banking URLs can be bought by anybody but the bank itself.

What became apparent yesterday is that the person who had bought the fraudulent URL and put up a website, looking exactly like the HSBC log in page, managed to buy not only one but two URLs beginning with HSBC then a dot and then some business like phrase.

They first send the first text with the first URL and then 1 hour later another text with a similar sounding URL. The texts came from two non-withheld UK mobile phone numbers, probably burner phones.

Of course it is important that people report such phishing scams to their banks straight away. The quicker those are taken down, the less people fall pray to such scams.

It is relatively easy to put up false websites. It is easy to copy graphics and display them and then put a form onto that website and harvest input information. But if people cannot buy the URL in the first place, the scam becomes much harder to do.

I know all that stuff because I have been a webmaster for over 10 years.

Thought control from Mayor Facebook

Having heard that YouTube – owned by Facebook – has shut down the postings of David Icke, a proclaimer of weird theories about the origin of Covid-19, it seems interesting, to say the least, that we now have thought control of the Internet imposed upon us.

Just wonder whether an alpha-male like David Icke will take that laying down. I don’t agree with his opinion, that G5 could be responsible for Corona Virus but it is an opinion, wrong or right. People no longer have the choice to listen to nonsense now.

I noticed that YouTube also deleted one of my videos. It was actually factually correct but not very pretty and filmed in a darkened room. It dealt with the origin of the Freemasons, a subject that was discussed on social media 30 years ago. Not that I am particularly interested in it, but it is noticable that YouTube thought it needs to be removed.

On the matter of enrichment, I thought the more the better. And as long as it doesn’t promote open violence or hate why can’t people say what they think any longer?

Just went shopping the other day and really appreciated that we have so many shops from people of different cultures who all sell basically the same stuff but sell it for their own communities from different outlets.

Trading standards could come along and say, they will not allow shops from people from differing cultural backgrounds but they don’t. It is not allowed to discriminate against other cultures, so why is it allowed to discriminate against whacky ideas by some individuals?

David Icke does not promote denial of the Holocaust. He merely thinks that G5 has to do with Corona Virus. The flat earthers are allowed to publish.

Perhaps what people need to do is to hire their own internet servers, which do not rely on major publishers and publish their own stuff by their own servers.

I curently use WordPress but do not need the platform.

I have noticed a big drop in postings on Facebook. It seems to get out of fashion.

Humanity in overdrive

I still think that most things can be explained by logic rather then maths formulae or therories of any kind. Formulae are merely good to quantify and bring into a presentable format.

The Corona Virus, such as any Pandemic is a result of a human community entering an overdrive situation in which the actual physical bodies involved can no longer cope with the biological results of their own action.

Civilisation is in overdrive and has repetitive mechanisms and variables which are self-defeating. For example financial rules – wrote about that years ago – all they produce are huge debts with some profits for the few top investors, which produced the last great international financial collapse.

Now civilisation has developed superb transport systems and other production methods, which purely produce larger quantities of everything but in that process biological processes have been largely ignored.

As I already blogged for years doctors plainly ignored the source of viral infections.

Just watched Devs, the newest drama on the BBC iPlayer and I am quite disappointed that this merely shows some old-fashioned pixallation techniques and human nightmares, throws it all together.

So that brought me to write the stuff above. Hope it helps.

Thinking about Heathrow

Extinction Rebellion is a movement sponsored by Billionnaires and those having gotten rich from the old way of doing business.

Now, come to think of it, Britain being an Island nation, relying on transport and especially so, air travel, Extinction Rebellion pours a lot of energy and money into fighting the expansion of Heathrow Airport, just as Britain has left the EU.

Of course the Paris Climate agreement needs to be properly referenced in thecourt proceedings about a third runway, but the loss of the expansion case is only a temporary stoppage and will be addressed by the appeal that Heathrow Airport plans to do. It’s a matter of changing the wording and show proper reference to the agreement.

Whilst I strongly support the reduction of carbon emissions world-wide, which would include an improvement of air-travel for all countries. Extinction Rebellion spent and continuous to spend an awful lot of energy to concentrate on Britain, doing an extra sacrificial deed and asks us to cut off our almost only viable connection to the outside world.

Of course we do have ships, we do have the Euro tunnel to Paris and Belgium but why ask Britain to be the first to reduce commercial activity.

Of course if Britain cannot have air capacity, they would re-channel air traffic via France but the air travel as a whole will not be reduced.

It is a matter of changing methods of transport and trade world-wide, so that all nations have a fair amount of responsibility.

It seems doubly weird that Keir Starmer, prospective leader for the Labour Party, strongly supports Extinction Rebellion and so does Sadiq Khan. Is it any wonder that Extinction Rebellion now has put up camp in one of London’s most left-wing council’s namely Tower Hamlets and moved into our commutiy centre.

Apparently residents have not been consulted prior to this. Our local area is getting deprived of services and they get replaced by birds, bees flowers and fruit trees; and we hold a totally free, yearly fireworks extravaganca nearby. As if that will pay our council taxes.

I  suppose you can achieve sensible world-wide policies by supporting inventions that develop the new technology we need and not by stopping traffic. Extinction Rebellion put their eggs into the demonstrations basket. How crude.

Their radical actions are designed to actively disturb our economy by stopping traffic, interrupting public transport to weaken our economy but that does not help changing technology.

If it’s a pretty woman

I am extremely concerned to learn about the suicide of a fire brigade officer whilst on duty in the early hours of today in the West Midlands.  In 2019 more police officers died through suicide than in the line of duty. Yet, that story does not even get the fraction of attention that the Caroline Flack story got.

I don’t want to say that one life is worth more than another but I think that the lady suffered from depression is a matter that should have been addressed via her GP or private health service, whichever she prefers.

It seems rather unfair that her prosecution is so overrated and the CPS gets the blame, what about the partner who suffered domestic abuse?

It is more than regrettable that people die needlessly and through their own actions. Generally that problem has to be addressed.

Obviously it is very distressing for a large amount of people if a very popular person commits suicide, that increases stress levels for all of us. But to blame the media for the problems is just completely unfair and unrealistic.

I had some very bad media reports for years and had to put up with it. It happens. Some politicians put up with severe media preasures and survive it. That is a matter of personal strength.

I want to offer sincere condolences to the family and friends of Caroline. I only started to watch Love Island this series and think it must be very stressful to openly deal with very personal and intimate feelings in front of the world and half-naked at most times. Especially as the Islanders don’t have projects to follow other than personal relationships, that must be extremely difficult to cope with.

Integrate mobile phone use, don’t ban them

the forbidden fruit syndrom is often a reason why children want excessive access to phones when they are supposed to be sleeping because there is no time during the day to use phones constructively and usefully.

Schools forbid them, then there is home-work and play time and then there is bed-time, which is the only time to catch up on the social networking.

Because children cannot get a useful relationship with their phone for school use, they tend to get driven towards those awful apps that can have a negative effect on them.

At least some schools already integrate tablets with school work but often tablets and phones use the same apps.

Coding is a very important skill and cannot be taught early enough, teaching kids how to create apps can never start early enough. Get them to do it in nursery.

Since a lot of home work and learning material is already online schools should really modernise up very fast to improve the situation.

Children will be much less likely to access their phones secretly and during the night, when they can use them during the day with good purposes, e.g. for school work and in school.

Why push phones into the undesirable category when all adults use them all the time?
