Bank holidays being eroded

Since the advent of banking Apps bank holidays are being eroded.

One bank issued a bank statement on 24. December for credit card customers. When we all know that this is Christmas eve. Then on Bank holiday 25. we get the notification of the bank statement being available online.

Another service provider, this time in the domestic fuels field, found out that benefits customers get paid on 24. December, the day before Christmas and debited all end of the month direct debits for fuels on the 24. to then just send another email on Christmas, the 25. December to say that they are so sorry they taken the money early. Please contact them to get reimbursed if bank costs resulted int he early DD.

So, that would have been unthinkable in traditional bank holiday times for sure.

Whilst they still do not debit or credit accounts on the 25. or 26. December itself, they do action admin functions and keep the Apps going.
